Farmers Are Being Compensated for Last Year’s Losses

The Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Payments (AIPA) announced the start of financial aid payments to farmers whose corn and sunflower crops were damaged by drought and extreme heat in 2025.

The National Agricultural Development Fund has allocated 50 million lei, and the compensation amount has been set at 1,442.24 lei per hectare.

The aid is intended to partially compensate for the damage caused by the drought. AIPA approved 333 sets of documents out of 345 applications submitted between May 25 and June 22, 2026.

The total area of land meeting the selection criteria exceeded 34,600 hectares. The payment amount is 1,442.24 lei per hectare. Compensation applies only to corn and sunflower crops with a damage rate of at least 50%.

The highest number of applications was recorded in the southern and central regions of the country: Căușeni—213 applications, Căhul—65 applications, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia—43 applications, and Chișinău—24 applications.
