According to their analysis, raising the annual personal tax deduction from 29,700 to 40,000 lei will save employees about 103 lei per month. At the same time, the draft tax policy for 2027 includes a number of measures that could increase costs for households and businesses.
Specifically, the proposal calls for raising the excise tax on diesel fuel, introducing an additional fee for natural gas consumption exceeding 150 cubic meters per month, and applying a 20% VAT rate to electricity consumption exceeding 100 kW·h. Changes to VAT rates for certain goods and services and an increase in excise taxes on automobiles are also proposed.
“Those 103 lei could very quickly be spent on a single higher bill or on goods and services that have become more expensive,” — notes “Construim Încredere.”
The movement also draws attention to people who will not be able to take advantage of the increased tax relief—pensioners, the unemployed without taxable income, and those living on social benefits. At the same time, rising prices and utility rates will affect them as well.
“Construim Încredere” believes that the government should explain not only how much additional revenue it plans to bring into the budget, but also what caused the deficit, which expenditures can be cut, and how much revenue can be recovered by combating the shadow economy, improving the efficiency of government procurement, and collecting outstanding debts.
In the near future, the movement promises to present a detailed analysis of the main provisions of the 2027 tax policy and its proposals for amending the draft.
