President Nicușor Dan made the announcement, noting that parliamentary factions were unable to reach an agreement on the text of the labor compensation bill, the adoption of which is a condition set by the European Commission, according to agerpres.ro.
“The parties fulfilled their commitment not to submit a separate bill to Parliament, jointly assuming—in accordance with the political agreement—the loss of 770 million euros associated with this phase of the Economic Recovery Plan,” Dan said.
Meanwhile, the European People’s Party and the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament had already called on Ursula von der Leyen to block this amount and not release it to Bucharest. However, this was not because of the salary law, but because of the anti-corruption law, under which Timisoara Mayor Dominik Fritz, who is close to Renew, will lose his position.
