To Alexandru Munteanu
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu made this statement during the Fifth Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, held in Gdańsk, Poland.
The event brought together heads of state and government, representatives of European and international institutions, development partners, as well as representatives of the business community and civil society.
In his speech, the prime minister highlighted the resilience of the Ukrainian people, who, despite the war, continue to defend their country, rebuild schools, hospitals, and energy infrastructure, and move forward on the path of reform.
The Prime Minister emphasized the role of the Republic of Moldova in strengthening Ukraine’s connections with European markets. According to him, in recent years, Moldova has become a key route for trade, transport, and energy flows linking Ukraine with the European Union. In this regard, the country is ready to continue developing its infrastructure and strengthening its role as a logistics hub to support Ukraine’s recovery.
At the same time, Moldova is implementing a number of cross-border projects in the fields of transportation, roads, and railways, developed within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including the “Odessa Triangle” regional format. Projects to build and modernize bridges, roads, and railways are designed to increase border capacity, facilitate trade and transportation, and, as a result, contribute to Ukraine’s economic recovery.
“For Ukraine, sustainable and diversified transport routes are critically important for economic recovery and long-term growth. The Republic of Moldova is fully committed to helping ensure these connections,” the prime minister noted.
Another key topic addressed by the head of government was regional energy cooperation. Alexandru Munteanu reported that the Republic of Moldova is continuing reforms aimed at integrating into European natural gas and electricity markets, while simultaneously strengthening energy cooperation with Ukraine.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regional initiatives such as the Vertical Gas Corridor, as well as bilateral projects, including the Bălți–Dniester Hydroelectric Power Plant initiative. In addition, the government is investing in expanding renewable energy production, which could help diversify the energy sources available to Ukraine.
The Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine is being held for the fifth consecutive year and serves as an international platform for coordinating assistance aimed at Ukraine’s reconstruction, modernization, and European integration.
