Moldova wins bronze medal at the International English Language Olympiad

The Republic of Moldova’s national team performed successfully at the 4th International English Language Olympiad, held from 6 to 12 September in the Romanian city of Suceava.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the team won a bronze medal in the team competition, presenting a striking multimedia project based on Angie Thomas’s novel *All Your Hate*.

The national team comprised four pupils: a Year 12 pupil from the Mihai Eminescu Lyceum Mihai Eminescu in Bălți, Nicoleta Caraji, a Year 12 pupil at the school of the same name in Edineț, Gabriela Haberi, a Year 11 pupil at the ‘Prometheus-Prim’ Lyceum of Creativity and Inventiveness in Chișinău, and Andreea Daria, a Year 12 pupil at the Ion Creangă Lyceum Ion Crăngă, and Andrei Dariu.

In the individual written tests, certificates of honour were awarded to Nicoleta Caraji, Andrei Daryi and Gabriela Haberi. The girls were prepared for the competition by Viorica Lifar, PhD in Philology, and Alina Legkobit, a university lecturer, both representing the State University of Moldova.

The International English Language Olympiad brought together 136 pupils from 14 countries.
