The discussions took place in the context of the application of MAIA/MM Joint Order No. 43/64, dated April 7, 2026, approving the Methodological Guidelines for Crop Damage Assessment.
The new guideline establishes an updated methodology developed on the basis of the experience gained over the last two years in the process of determining damage caused by drought, frost, hail, heavy rains and other natural hazards. The aim is to ensure that monitoring conducted at the local level is carried out according to uniform rules, using uniform administrative documentation.
During the meeting, the main provisions of the regulation were explained. These provisions concern the use of a single model of the damage assessment act, updating the composition of local assessment committees, defining the responsibilities of committee members and describing the steps to be taken in the process of surveying affected crops.
The new document also contains rules for field crop assessment, including taking into account compliance with good agricultural practices. Local authorities will be required to register assessment acts in an official register so that information on reported damage can be tracked and administratively verified.
