As noted in the agency’s statement, “the LEADER program plays an important role in the development of rural communities by involving local action groups in the development and implementation of their own investment projects.”

In the first half of 2026, the AIPA agency authorized the disbursement of 36.36 million lei under the LEADER program. Of this amount, 32.40 million lei were allocated to the activities of local working groups (from the financial resources of the Republic of Moldova’s Growth Plan), and 3.96 million lei were allocated to support the implementation of the local development strategy.

Under the Republic of Moldova’s Development Plan for 2026, a budget of 100 million lei has been set aside to support local development strategies.
