An informal meeting of the Council for Common European Union Affairs was held on May 11 in Nicosia at the invitation of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Moldova was represented at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimova.
“For Moldova, these reforms mean strengthening institutions, increasing citizens’ trust and creating a society capable of facing external challenges. In recent years, our country has risen to important positions in international rankings tracking key areas such as the fight against corruption, press freedom and the strengthening of democratic institutions. This would be impossible without the enormous efforts we make inside the country and without the participation of the entire society,” Cristina Gerasimova said.
She stressed that Moldova remains firmly determined to continue the reforms, which are already bringing visible changes in people’s lives, and to advance on its European path.
