A Moldovan parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speaker Vlad Batrincea is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from April 21 to 30, at the invitation of the Chinese side. The delegation brings together MPs from all factions.
In Shenzhen, the Moldovan parliamentary delegation visited the head office of the Huawei company, one of the world leaders in telecommunications and IT technologies.
During the visit, the parliamentarians got acquainted with the company’s research centers, where advanced solutions in the field of digital technologies, communications and innovative electronics are created. The latest models of electric cars and gadgets were presented. The delegation was also shown achievements in the field of digitalization of medicine and development of artificial intelligence.
Predictability and investment
“About 40 years ago, Shenzhen was a fishing village. Then a special economic zone was established there. The Chinese government provided (essentially) just two key conditions: predictability in policy and investment in infrastructure. Only that, but they have consistently delivered on their commitments. Today, Shenzhen has a gross regional product of $550 billion. I’m not talking about emotions and even less about personal regrets, I’m talking about experience based on strategy, discipline and a lot of hard work. We could apply these ‘ingredients’ at our place too. It is possible,” commented Ion Kiku, deputy of the Alternativa bloc.
Vasile Costiuc, chairman of the faction “Democrația Acasă”, noted the impressive illumination of skyscrapers in the city center, which is turned on synchronously on all buildings with the sound of music as evening falls.
“Are we still talking about ‘imperial interests’? Here, the level of civilization has gone so far ahead that we are light years behind,” Kostyuk said.
The phenomenon of the greater Bay Area region
A parliamentary delegation attended an event on the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area region. The discussions emphasized the importance of international cooperation, integrated economic development and sharing experiences among countries.
“Such platforms help to better understand global trends and find opportunities for cooperation that can bring real benefits to our citizens. Moldova should remain open to dialogue and partnerships that contribute to development and modernization,” said Elena Gritsko, deputy head of the Our Party faction.
Moldova and China: Dialogue on Technology and Development
The forum is positioned as “a strategic anchor point of a new development model, a demonstration platform of high-quality development and a territory for the implementation of Chinese modernization”.
Vlad Batrincea delivered an official address to the participants, emphasizing the high level of the Moldovan-Chinese relations, as well as the prospects for their further development:
“Today, we have every reason to speak not just about stable relations, but about long-lasting solid cooperation and close friendship, which can and should be given a new, more modern and more practical content. We are interested in adopting China’s best practices in the Greater Gulf region. First of all – in the ability to connect industrial policy, infrastructure, investment, education and innovation in a single long-term system”.
The MP also emphasized that Moldova should import the most affordable and advanced technologies for the economy and consumers.
The forum was attended by over 160 leaders of political parties, experts from think tanks, business and industry representatives from more than 40 countries.
