Buffett’s McDonald’s, Bezos’s coffee, and Musk’s donut: what billionaires eat for breakfast

A steak and eggs, a McDonald's burger, or skipping breakfast altogether—the breakfast habits of the world's wealthiest entrepreneurs turned out to be much simpler than one might expect.

For example, Elon Musk prefers a protein-rich breakfast—steak and eggs, according to RBC. The founder of Tesla and SpaceX explained that this diet provides a more stable energy level compared to carbohydrate-rich foods. However, the entrepreneur himself has admitted that he is not a fan of strict restrictions. He previously said he would prefer “a short life but delicious food,” and later joked on social media platform X that he “eats a doughnut every morning and is still alive.”

Amazon owner Jeff Bezos starts his day with a cup of coffee and a conversation with his wife, Lauren Sanchez. According to her, the couple makes a point of not using their phones in the morning. At the same time, Bezos is known for his unusual food choices. After Amazon acquired Woot, the company’s founder, Matt Rutledge, recalled that the billionaire ordered Mediterranean-style octopus for breakfast with potatoes, bacon, garlic, yogurt, and a poached egg, after which he smiled and told his companion, “You’re the octopus I’m going to eat for breakfast.”

Warren Buffett, one of the world’s most famous investors, on the other hand, has remained loyal to McDonald’s for many years. In the HBO documentary “Becoming Warren Buffett,” he recounted that he would stop by a fast-food restaurant every day on his way to the office, and the cost of his breakfast depended on how the stock market opened. If the market was down, Buffett would choose a cheaper option from the menu.

Twitter (now X) co-founder Jack Dorsey takes the opposite approach: he has given up breakfast altogether. The entrepreneur has said that he eats once a day, in the evening, preferring protein-rich foods and green vegetables, with dark chocolate or berries for dessert.

Although the morning habits of billionaires are regularly the subject of discussion, most of them emphasize that this is purely a matter of personal choice, not a universal formula for productivity.
