In this regard, for the first time in the history of major soccer tournaments, three opening ceremonies of the championship will be held at once.
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) made this decision to emphasize the equal status of all hosts. According to The Athletic, one ceremony will be held before the first match in each host country.
Popular local artists will perform in each opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup. It was reported that in the U.S. it will be pop singer, American Idol jury member and UN Goodwill Ambassador Katy Perry. In Canada, the attention of the public will be drawn to the winner of 5 Grammy Awards, Michael Bublé. And in Mexico, the opening ceremony will be graced by the winner of 4 Grammy Awards, pop-rock band Mana.
Interestingly, Colombian singer Shakira recorded the official anthem of the World Cup-2026. But it is not yet known whether she will perform at one of the opening ceremonies or take part in the closing ceremony of the tournament.
The final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on July 19, 2026 at MetLife Stadium (MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, a suburb of New York City.
