In 2022, this section of railroad bed was severely affected by land subsidence and erosion, resulting in the suspension of traffic.
The reconstruction project for this line included the rehabilitation of a section of track about 400 meters long. The embankment was also reinforced with deep piles, drainage systems were installed and the railway infrastructure was completely modernized. The works were financed by the Government of RM.
The resumption of traffic on this route may contribute to increasing the transportation of grain and agricultural products, improving export logistics and strengthening Moldova’s role as a transit country.
