Victoria Belous
Consequently, Parliament declared the parliamentary seat held by the “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) party vacant.
As a reminder, on July 22, Victoria Belous was appointed Minister of Finance by decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova. Following her appointment, she was required to resign from her parliamentary seat, as the law prohibits holding both positions simultaneously.
Victoria Belous has many years of experience in the tax and financial sectors. Prior to her election to parliament, she had already served as Minister of Finance; before that, she was Deputy Director of the State Tax Service, headed the Main Directorate for Combating Fraud, and led the legal departments of the tax authorities.
Victoria Belous is a lawyer by training and a graduate of the State University of Moldova. She also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the Academy of Public Administration.
With Belous’s departure, the parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget, and Finance—one of the most important committees in the legislature—was once again left “leaderless.” Victoria Belous held the chairmanship for only a few weeks—after Radu Marian announced his resignation as chairman of the parliamentary committee on the economy, budget, and finance amid a scandal surrounding the leadership of MoldATSA.
