ANSA Reminds Farmers: Keep Records of Phytosanitary Treatments in Orchards and Vineyards

The National Food Safety Agency strongly recommends that Moldovan agricultural producers keep strict records of the phytosanitary products they use. This is especially important now, immediately before and during the harvest of fruits and grapes, which will soon be on store shelves and consumers’ tables.

Experts from the ANSA agency remind farmers that data on every phytosanitary treatment of agricultural land must be recorded in the logbook—in accordance with the provisions of Annex No. 4 to the law (No. 119/2004). Entries must contain accurate information: the product’s trade name; the active ingredient; the crop’s growth stage; the rationale for using the product; the amount of product applied (liters per kilogram per hectare); the amount of water in the working solution (liters per hectare); the start and end times of the treatment; and details regarding the equipment and personal protective equipment used by staff.

The register (logbook) of sanitary treatments must be registered and certified by the regional offices of ANSA—this is an official document that must be presented upon request during government inspections. During inspections, copies of receipts or tax invoices confirming the purchase of phytosanitary products will also be required.

A notice on the agency’s official website states that “by strictly adhering to these rules, every agribusiness operator makes a direct contribution to the development of sustainable agriculture, the protection of the environment, and the assurance of a safe and healthy harvest for consumers.”
