According to the document, the main goal is for every student to understand how AI affects society, to be able to critically evaluate digital information, and to recognize disinformation created using modern technologies, including deepfakes and other forms of AI-generated content.
Experts note that AI education should not be limited to technical fields. Skills in the responsible use of technology, digital ethics, and critical thinking should become part of general education for all students, regardless of their chosen field of study.
The development of new curricula should draw on the experience of universities and organizations that are already implementing initiatives in the field of digital and media literacy, and should align with Moldova’s education reforms and European standards for digital competencies.
It is proposed to begin implementing this initiative in 2027, with the full implementation period scheduled for 2027–2030.
UNESCO stands ready to support Moldova in this process by providing international expertise in the areas of AI literacy, media literacy, and responsible technology development.
At the same time, the report proposes establishing a National Fund for Research and Innovation in AI, which will support research projects, professional training, and studies at the intersection of AI with education, law, ethics, and public administration.
