This decision allows the government to complete the process of purchasing the last two privately owned premises, which until now have hindered efforts to ensure the security of this strategic facility, where the Office of the Prosecutor General, the High Council of Prosecutors, and one of the specialized prosecutor’s offices are located.
Previously, the state had managed to reclaim ownership of 22 premises through contract termination or voluntary buyouts; however, the process was blocked by the owners of two basement spaces measuring 54 square meters and 29.2 square meters. Despite repeated preliminary agreements, the owners refused to sign the final documents before a notary, which prevented the start of work to reinforce the building’s structure.
The law adopted today initiates an expropriation process that will allow the state to take control of these properties through compulsory measures, with fair compensation paid to the owners.
The Public Property Agency estimates the value of these premises at approximately 3 million lei. Funds for these procedures have already been allocated by the Government as part of a 44 million lei reserve set aside for compensation in cases of additional expropriations.
