According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2024 this indicator was 137.1 lei. Thanks to the introduction of new measures, the government plans to increase the share of these expenses in the household budget from 3.1% (2024 level) to 3.5% by 2030.
The programme is aimed at strengthening the role of culture in society, supporting diversity and modernizing cultural infrastructure in line with European standards. The authorities intend to reduce existing inequalities in access to cultural benefits and ensure equal opportunities for the population to participate in cultural events.
As Logos Press reported earlier, the total estimated cost of the program is 1,854,438.68 thousand lei, including both state budget funds and foreign investments. At present, in order to fully implement the planned measures, there is a financing deficit of 1,225,385.39 thousand lei; the authorities expect to cover it by attracting external resources.
The financial resources will be channeled through central and local authorities in order to stimulate cultural projects, as well as to ensure an accessible and diverse cultural offer for all citizens by the end of the decade.
The program was developed by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, with financial support from the European Union.
