International Flower Festival

The festival was born in 1961 and is considered one of the most important cultural events in the country, Anadolu Agency of Turkey said. About 500 local and foreign gardeners, florists and designers take part in this year’s festival, and more than 1,000 varieties of flowers, including rare species, are presented.

As part of the event, some 150 million flower seedlings of about 120 species are planned to be planted throughout the city at stands decorated with modern landscaping and design solutions, as well as decorative items and miniatures to reinforce Namangan’s image as a “city of flowers.”

A traditional car parade is planned, during which more than 200 cars of different brands decorated with fresh flowers will drive more than 10 kilometers along the main streets of the city from Namangan International Airport to Babur Park, the agency reported.

The main site of the festival, Babur Park, on an area of about 8 hectares presents large-scale floral compositions created by more than 250 gardeners, florists and designers. Twelve special photo zones have been set up throughout the park for visitors.

About 150 million flower seedlings are planned to be planted during this year’s festival. More than 1 million foreign tourists from more than 50 countries and about 7 million locals are expected to visit the festival.

Due to the festival, hotel occupancy in the city has reached 95%.
