Andrian Gavrilita: The waste of public resources is not due to malicious intent…

Often the detected irregularities in the management of public resources are not caused by malicious intent, but by the complexity of the legal framework and the procedures to be applied. This opinion was shared by Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilita at the ongoing training events of the State Inspectorate of Financial Control (SIFC), dedicated to combating violations detected during financial audits.

The purpose of the events is to “strengthen financial discipline, uniform application of the legal framework and support the authorities in the correct and efficient management of public resources. This is reported by the departmental website, specifying that along with the GIFC, representatives of central and local public authorities, as well as business organizations, are adding their knowledge in the fight against embezzlement of state assets.

The agenda, for example, includes topics concerning the main violations identified by the GIFC in “public procurement, management of state assets, financial and accounting discipline and labor remuneration. And recommendations and measures to prevent non-compliance and ensure proper management of public funds are also presented,” the agency said in an official statement.

Minister Andrian Gavrilita emphasized the importance of supporting public authorities in the correct application of the legal framework and strengthening financial discipline.

“I thank all those who work in the public service and contribute daily to the responsible management of public resources. Often the violations identified are not due to malice, but to the complexity of the legal and regulatory framework and the procedures that need to be applied. Through these activities, we seek to clarify the situation, provide support and strengthen cooperation with local public authorities so that interaction with the Ministry of Finance is as effective and constructive as possible,” he said.
