Mango founder’s son walks out of court after high-profile arrest

A court in Barcelona has granted bail to Jonathan Andik, the son of deceased Mango founder Isak Andik, who is suspected by investigators of involvement in his father's death. The decision was taken after the prosecutor's office requested that the businessman be remanded in custody with the possibility of release on bail of one million euros.

The defense paid the required amount by bank transfer, after which Andik left the courthouse accompanied by his lawyers. According to the court order, he is obliged to appear weekly before the judicial authorities, cannot leave Spain and must surrender his passport until the investigation is completed.

The judge pointed to signs of a possible “premeditated act,” meduza writes, citing El País and La Vanguardia. One of the main versions of the investigation is considered a conflict around the multi-billion dollar inheritance of the Andik family. According to the court’s version, Jonathan Andik feared that his father might change his will and direct part of his fortune to charity.

The case file also mentions a deterioration in the relationship between father and son in the last months before the tragedy. An alleged “obsession with money” is also mentioned, although family representatives have publicly denied such allegations.

Mango founder Isak Andik died in December 2024 while hiking near the Monserrat mountain range in Catalonia. The billionaire fell from a height while with his son. Initially, the investigation considered the incident as an accident, but later the police found contradictions in the testimony of Jonathan Andik.

On May 19, 2026, Catalan police detained the heir to Mango. The investigation into the death of the entrepreneur, which had previously been considered an accident case, has since become criminal in nature.
