
Photovoltaic power plants accounted for 51.43 MW of new capacity, wind farms added 6 MW, and biogas plants added 1.32 MW.
Solar energy remained the dominant renewable source at the end of March 2026. Its total installed capacity reached 759.79 MW, accounting for 73% of the total renewable electricity capacity. Wind power accounted for 254.72 MW (24%), biogas 8.475 MW (2%), and hydropower 16.75 MW (1%).
Over the last five years, Moldova has increased its installed renewable energy capacity by 13.23 times, demonstrating a rapid transition to clean energy sources.
The country has set a target to achieve a 30% share of renewable energy in electricity consumption and 27% in total final energy consumption by 2030. In 2024, renewables accounted for 16.7% of electricity consumption, and the authorities estimate that this share could rise to 27% by 2026.
