
At the same time, the intensity of flights also increased. In April, the airport handled 3,311 takeoffs and landings – 7.7% more than a year earlier.
The most notable growth in passenger traffic was recorded on European destinations. The leader was Berlin, where the increase amounted to 8403 passengers. Next are Paris – 7907 passengers, Prague – 7454, Barcelona – 6876 and Larnaca – 6665 passengers. Verona, Brussels, Yerevan, Milan, Istanbul, Nuremberg, Athens, Bologna, Nice, Hurghada and Baku were also among the routes with high demand.
New destinations added to the airport’s route network also made a significant contribution to traffic growth. In April, they attracted 30,438 passengers, which amounted to about 6.3% of the total monthly passenger traffic. The most popular among the new flights were Sofia with 6,027 passengers and Bratislava with 5,336 passengers. Demand for flights to Wroclaw, Naples, Copenhagen, Turin and Alicante also grew actively.
The airport administration noted that the April results reflect a steady increase in demand for both departing and arriving flights. They attribute the growth of indicators to the expansion of the geography of flights, increased frequency of flights, the development of cooperation with airlines and the growth of tourist activity.
