
According to the European official, the meeting examines the next steps on Moldova’s European path, including the negotiation chapters and the necessary support to promote the accession process.
“Moldova continues to take concrete steps towards the European Union and political support for this course remains strong,” Siegfried Muresan emphasized.
The results of the meeting will be presented at a press conference scheduled for this afternoon in Brussels. It will be attended by the co-chairmen of the committee – Siegfried Muresan and Marcel Spatar, chairman of the Moldovan Parliament’s Commission for European Integration.
According to the Moldovan parliament’s press service, the agenda of the meeting includes the discussion of the progress in the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, including the reform of the justice system.
A separate block of the agenda is dedicated to the development of Moldova’s economy, the European Union’s Growth Plan and the EU’s future multi-annual financial framework for 2028-2034.
Security, sustainability and energy sector issues will also be addressed.
At the end of the meeting, the members of the Parliamentary Committee of the Moldova-European Union Association will adopt a final declaration and recommendations.
The Moldovan parliamentary delegation, headed by MP Marcel Spatary, includes MPs Sergiu Lazarencu, Gaic Vardanean, Anna Calinic, Alexandru Trubka and Elena Gritsco.
The Parliamentary Association Committee of the Republic of Moldova-European Union was set up on the basis of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. It is composed of representatives of the Moldovan Parliament and the European Parliament. Its meetings are held twice a year and are aimed at monitoring the implementation of the agreement and coordinating the country’s European course.
