Defense Minister Anatoliy Nosaty expressed his gratitude to the German side for its support of modernization projects under the European Peace Fund (EPF) and the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCB). Germany is actively involved in reequipping the National Army with modern military equipment, specifically the latest batches of “Piranha III” and “Piranha V” armored vehicles.
For its part, the German side “reaffirmed its readiness to support the Republic of Moldova in developing its defense capabilities, enhancing institutional resilience in the face of hybrid threats, and strengthening cooperation within European and Euro-Atlantic frameworks,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense.
The minister expressed confidence that the new military attaché’s experience “will contribute to the continuation of ongoing bilateral projects and, accordingly, to advancing the modernization of the National Army.”
Julian-André Finke is a career German officer and military historian who underwent specialized training for service as a military attaché. Prior to his appointment in Chisinau, he held staff positions, notably at the Air Operations Center. He holds a Ph.D. and an MBA, and is also known as a military historian specializing in the integration of air defense and air force units (in particular, he is the author of monographs on the history of the GDR Air Force within the Warsaw Pact).
