Robert Kocharian and Sedrak Kocharian
On the morning of August 25, law enforcement officers conducted a search of the home of Robert Kocharian’s other son, Levon Kocharian, a member of the National Assembly. Investigators took the former president himself to the Anti-Corruption Committee, according to Newsyam.
It was later reported that Sedrak Kocharian had been detained.
According to Armenpress, as part of a criminal investigation into corruption offenses, the Anti-Corruption Committee is conducting searches and other procedural actions at several dozen locations linked to Robert Kocharyan and members of his family.
In particular, tax authorities have sealed the Yerevan office of the company “Toyota.” Investigative and procedural actions are also taking place at the “Orange Fitness” club and the “Play City” entertainment center, as well as in the apartments of the directors of these companies. The Kocharyan family holds stakes in these companies.
The day before, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed law enforcement agencies to take measures to seize the assets of the country’s second president, Robert Kocharian, and its third president, Serzh Sargsyan.
