Another important indicator is the increase in the number of foreign tourists. A total of 159,600 foreign tourists stayed at tourist accommodations in Moldova, accounting for 62% of the total. Most came from Ukraine and Romania, followed by the United States, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Israel, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
During the same period, tourists spent 679,900 nights in lodging facilities, which is 4.6% more than during the same period last year. At the same time, the number of accommodation units increased by 1%, reaching 79,000, and the occupancy rate rose to 28.4%.
These results show that the Republic of Moldova is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists, and the sector is strengthening its role in the development of the local and national economies, according to the Ministry of Economic Development.
