Prices for agricultural producers showed a mixed trend

In the first half of 2026, producer prices in Moldova’s agri-food sector fell by an average of 4.6% compared with the same period last year. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), this trend was driven by a decline in prices for crop products, while the livestock sector saw a moderate increase in selling prices.

In crop production, prices fell (−8.5%): prices for open-field vegetables (−29.4%), fruits and berries (−23.5%), corn (−15.5%), and grains (−14.7%).

However, prices rose for rapeseed (+6.5%) and sunflower seeds (+2.9%).

In livestock production, producer prices rose on average (+1.6%): eggs (+25.6%), honey (+6.5%), and live weight cattle (+2.7%) became noticeably more expensive. At the same time, prices for sheep and goats (−15.7%) and milk (−1.6%) declined.

Against the backdrop of an overall increase in agricultural production volumes (+8.9%) in the first half of 2026, the financial situation and real incomes of many farmers remain under pressure due to rising input costs, weather risks, and declining incomes on small farms, despite government support and the active development of large agricultural enterprises.
