ANSA Has Launched an Internal Anti-Corruption Campaign

The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) is launching a large-scale awareness campaign under the slogan: “Diligent Oversight, Safe Food!” The campaign will run until the end of the year and aims to “prevent corruption in the official inspection process and ensure fair and transparent interaction between inspectors and economic operators.”

“Good faith” is understood to mean the institutional “zero-tolerance policy toward corruption,” as interpreted by the agency. According to the campaign’s creators, zero tolerance will involve publicly reporting any violations or attempts at corruption.

The agency recommends doing so “with confidence.” Reports of abuse of power, ethical violations, or inappropriate conduct should be addressed directly to the agency via secure channels, email addresses, and phone numbers published on the official ANSA website.

The agency also calls on the business community to help eradicate corruption and reminds entrepreneurs of the fundamental principles governing their interactions with inspectors and veterinarians:

Free consultations —ANSA inspectors are required to provide you with free professional advice and assistance within their area of expertise. It is illegal to request these services or to make their provision contingent on receiving an unjustified benefit.

Gifts and Other Benefits Are Prohibited – ANSA employees are not permitted to request or accept money, goods, gifts, courtesy meals, or any other improper benefits in exchange for performing their official duties.

– Oversight is conducted in accordance with the law – All official inspections, authorization procedures, and other activities carried out by ANSA are conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the law, based on checklists, without favoritism, discrimination, or the granting of preferential treatment.
