The government is allocating 9 million lei for the relocation of teachers

Teachers, principals, and support staff who will be required to take positions in other administrative-territorial units following the reorganization of schools will be eligible to receive a one-time relocation allowance of up to 300,000 lei, according to a regulation approved by the government.

In presenting the document, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun stated that the financial support will be paid in two equal installments: 150,000 lei within 30 days of hiring and another 150,000 lei after six months, provided the individual remains in the position. If the individual leaves voluntarily before five years have passed, the allowance must be repaid.

Relocation will be considered only after other options have been exhausted: identifying vacant positions within the same administrative-territorial unit, filling teaching quotas across multiple institutions, or professional retraining.

This measure comes as part of the reorganization of 73 public educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova, where 683 teachers are employed. Nine million lei have been allocated for relocation allowances. As a result of the reorganization, 53 institutions will become combined elementary and kindergarten schools, 8 will be reorganized into elementary schools, 5 into kindergartens, and 7 will cease operations.
