Gasoline and diesel prices will exceed 30 lei

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has approved new price caps that will be in effect from July 25 through July 27, amid rising prices on the global market caused by the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

The maximum price per liter of AI-95 gasoline will be 30.16 lei, which is 27 bani more than the current price. Standard diesel fuel will increase by 49 bani, to 30.29 lei per liter.

“Disruptions in maritime transport through the Strait of Hormuz have led to a rise in global prices for petroleum products, which directly affects the pricing process on the domestic market”, the ANRE noted.

The agency also reported that following the resumption of hostilities in Iran, the price of Brent crude rose to $100 per barrel. According to Reuters, this is $27, or 37%, higher than the previous level.

At the same time, Platts prices rose by 15.7% for gasoline and by 20.6% for diesel fuel. These changes directly affect prices in Moldova, which is entirely dependent on petroleum product imports.

“Since the Republic of Moldova is entirely dependent on imports of petroleum products, these external fluctuations also affect retail prices in the domestic market”, the ANRE explained.

The agency assured that it will continue to monitor the situation on international oil markets and noted that the current pricing mechanism is transparent and ensures fair fuel pricing at gas stations.
