
Currently, the system includes a 15,000-cubic-meter reservoir, a pumping station, main and distribution pipelines totaling more than 5 km in length, a high-voltage power grid, and a solar panel array.
The project began in 2023 as part of the IFAD VII program. At that time, several local farmers received a grant of 3 million lei to build the basic infrastructure. In the second phase, funded by the IFAD VIII program, another 25 farmers joined forces and received grant support totaling more than 7 million lei to modernize and expand the irrigation system.
Agricultural yields on irrigated plots in southern Moldova are significantly higher than those on rain-fed (non-irrigated) land. In particular, grape production has quadrupled thanks to irrigation.
