This year, the organisers of the US Open increased the total prize fund to a record $108 million. Rybakina’s victory earned her $5.5 million. The same amount went to the winner of the men’s singles tournament, Alexander Zverev.
The previous record for prize money at a single Grand Slam tournament stood at $5 million. This was the amount Arina Sobolenko and Carlos Alcaraz each received for winning the US Open in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
For Rybakina, this new figure also set a personal best. Her previous highest prize money for a single tournament was $5.235 million, which she earned at the WTA Finals in 2025.
Sobolenko earned $2.8 million for reaching the final. However, the Belarusian tennis player has on more than one occasion earned less even for winning Grand Slam tournaments. For example, for both her Australian Open titles, she received just over $2 million.
Following the US Open, Rybakina took the top spot in the women’s tennis prize money rankings for the 2026 season. She has already earned nearly $11 million. Sobolenko is in second place. Linda Noskova has dropped to third place, whilst Mirra Andreeva is in fifth.
Not just prize money
In terms of career prize money, Rybakina is now close to the top ten. Sobolenko ranks second among active female tennis players, though she is still a long way off Serena Williams’ total.
A significant portion of the athlete’s income comes from off the court. According to Forbes, in 2025 Rybakina earned around $4 million from sponsorship deals and other commercial ventures. Her partners include Yonex, Red Bull, Lexus, Bank RBK, KAZ Minerals, Fanatics, Topps and Vanguart.
Sobolenko earned around $15 million from sources outside tennis in the same year. She has contracts with Nike, Wilson, Audemars Piguet and Oakberry.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Rybakina’s net worth is around $20 million, whilst Sobolenko’s is approximately $22 million.
