This was reported by the Moldovan government’s press service.
At the same time, work is underway at the Chisinau Power Plant to prepare the necessary connections for integrating the plant into the national power grid.
Work at the Chisinau Power Plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month, including testing and commissioning of the line.
The Vulcănești-Chișinău line is approximately 157 kilometers long and will connect the Vulcănești power plant (400 kV) with the Chișinău power plant (330 kV).
Once construction is complete, the risk of energy blackmail will be eliminated, as the currently operating line passes through the power plant in Cuchurgan, which is not located in the territory controlled by the Republic of Moldova, according to the Moldovan government.
The Vulcănești-Chișinău power line, proudly dubbed the “Independence Line,” will allow electricity to be transported from Romania and the European market directly to the center of the country.
It should be recalled that Moldovan authorities promised to complete this critically important infrastructure project by December 2025. The deadline was then extended several times. And now, in June 2026, the Independence Line is still not finished.
