According to Alexei Buza, the funds allocated by the government will be invested in specific infrastructure projects—the modernization of local roads, the expansion of water supply and sewer systems, the upgrading of street lighting, and waste collection and management services.
According to information provided by the State Chancellery, approximately 790 municipalities across the country have currently begun the process of voluntary merger.
In late January, the government announced the launch of preparations for a local public administration reform, which is intended to improve the management system and the quality of public services.
The authorities organized public consultations, following which they presented a concept for territorial-administrative reform.
Parliament then approved changes that simplify and improve the process of voluntary municipal consolidation.
Currently, more than 400 decisions to initiate the voluntary consolidation process have been approved at the national level.
