According to Trump, Washington’s revenue from the sale of Venezuelan oil has already exceeded the cost of the military operation by at least 28 times. He emphasized that all military expenses were not only recouped but also yielded a multiple-fold return.
Trump noted that the military operation in Venezuela itself lasted only 48 minutes, calling it a “one-day” operation and stating that this was exactly how long it took to win this “war.”
The source of revenue was the export of “millions of barrels of oil” from the country. Under the terms of new agreements between the U.S. and Venezuela, proceeds from oil sales are deposited into accounts controlled by Washington. The U.S. Secretary of Energy also announced his intention to independently handle the sale of all oil produced in Venezuela.
A military operation was carried out in early January 2026. At that time, the U.S. launched an airstrike on Caracas with the aim of capturing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
