Igor Grosu
Grosu stated that the political party had acknowledged these problems and had already begun to take action: resignations followed, and audits were initiated at state-owned enterprises and on administrative councils.
“Yes, members of parliament, ministers, and other public officials who have chosen to serve the country are obligated—both by law and from an ethical standpoint—to be utterly honest and transparent, and to manage public funds and their positions with the utmost integrity. And everyone must be accountable for their decisions before the law and the citizens. But what is the purpose of destroying the efforts of the entire team because of the actions of a few individuals? To weaken the parliamentary majority? To weaken state authority so that those who belong in prison can find loopholes to escape? To block the EU accession process?” Igor Grosu asks rhetorically.
Grosu emphasized that, despite the mistakes of a few dozen people—among whom a purge will take place—the PAS party has proven through its actions over the past 10 years that it is leading the country in the right direction.
“Our goal transcends any party interests—it is a European Moldova with clean government institutions and a state that works for the people. We must restore order; we cannot afford missteps within our team, but through its actions over the past 10 years, PAS has proven that it is leading the country on the right path. Apart from a few dozen people who have stumbled, there are thousands of people who work honestly, sincerely, and selflessly from morning till night. “We thank these thousands of employees across all government agencies for their efforts and regret that they have been subjected to an undeserved wave of smear campaigns,” the speaker concluded.
This statement came amid a series of scandals in which some PAS representatives or their associates were implicated.
