The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) has drafted a new Regulation of the Radio Amateur Service of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the document, the use of radio stations necessarily requires a license issued on the basis of an amateur radio operator’s certificate. They are valid for five years and are categorized by qualification classes.
Foreign radio amateurs can temporarily operate on Moldovan territory without a local license if their country is a member of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT). But prior notification to the regulator is required.
Radio amateurs can operate not only on terrestrial frequencies, but also via radio stations on artificial satellites.
There are also strict requirements for call signs. It is forbidden to transmit commercial, coded or unauthorized messages, as well as to interfere with other communication services. Radio amateurs in Moldova are recommended to use the international phonetic alphabet for radiotelephone communications.
