During the training, servicemen went through the entire technological process – from computer-aided design in SolidWorks to the creation of the finished product, working in small groups under the guidance of TechZone trainers. The final assessment included comprehensive practical tests, during which the servicemen demonstrated skills in numerical control equipment (CNC), cutting, bending and laser welding.

“With this first edition, the program confirms the effectiveness of cooperation between the defense sector, education and industry, contributing to the training of a qualified workforce adapted to the modern market requirements in the Republic of Moldova,” said Marin Ciobanu, chief administrator of the Bălţi FEZ, within which TechZone operates.

Educated – become an owner

In the future, special support programs will be launched for some servicemen to create turnkey enterprises, in which they will have the status of owners. These initiatives are aimed at utilizing the acquired skills and facilitating the transition to productive activities in the technical sphere under conditions of autonomy and entrepreneurial responsibility.

The event was attended by the Minister of Defense, Anatol Nosatii, who emphasized the institutional importance of this initiative. In his speech, the minister emphasized the important role of technical skills development in facilitating the integration of young people into the labor market.

Sergiu Rabii, representative of the Innovate Moldova program supported by the British and Swedish governments, also highlighted the importance of youth employment. He encouraged young people to continue participating in other initiatives that will be supported by the program.

TechZone was created at the Free Economic Zone “Balti” with the support of the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, as well as with the support of strategic partners: the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Government of the United States of America, the Innovate Moldova program funded by Sweden and the United Kingdom, as well as with the support of private sector partners.
