According to the Ministry of Culture, the following accommodation facilities have joined the system: Villa Sano, Vila Dorului, Rumix Stil, Luminar Prim, Han-Agro-Tur, Colț de rai, Vatra Dumeștilor, Vercom JNG, Green Village and Eco Resort Butuceni. These guesthouses were the first participants in a new system focused on developing rural tourism and supporting the local economy.
The ministry said that the launch of tourist vouchers is aimed at stimulating the internal tourist flow, increasing the income of small businesses in rural areas and better utilizing the tourism potential of Moldovan villages. It is expected that participation in the program will make rural guesthouses more visible to tourists and expand their client base.
The mechanism works simply: private companies, at their discretion, can provide employees with tourist vouchers. These can be used to pay for a vacation in the country – but with a prerequisite: the package must include accommodation and at least one additional tourist service, such as excursions or activities in the region.
To participate in the system, owners of rural guesthouses need to register with the National Tourism Office. Once on the official list, they will be able to accept vouchers and become part of the new tourism network. In addition, some of them will be able to issue such vouchers themselves.
