Today, these children (of whom there are about 250 in Moldova) are placed in residential care facilities. The creation of social centers will ensure the transfer of at least 20 children from these institutions to new facilities staffed by personnel trained to provide individualized support and facilitate their social integration.
Specialized civil society organizations will be able to set up these centers by participating in a grant competition. The grant amount will be 140,000 euros, and the total cost of the project “A Stronger Civil Society—A More Protected Childhood: Supporting the Transformation of the Child Protection System in the Republic of Moldova” will reach 2.1 million euros. It will run until January 2029.
Specialized civil society organizations with experience in developing social services are invited to submit project proposals as part of the grant competition. A total of 560,000 euros in funding is allocated for the establishment and operation of the four social centers.
The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by Keystone Moldova, the NGO “CCF Moldova – Child, Community, Family,” and the NGO “Partnerships for Every Child.”
Applications may be submitted until August 3, 2026, and the results of the competition will be announced within three months.
