
As noted, the AFD Group supports development projects that improve the lives of people in Moldova, including energy efficiency, afforestation and financing of small and medium-sized enterprises. No other details are given.
Earlier, it was reported that the French Development Agency (AFD) will continue to help Moldova reform key areas, implement strategic projects and achieve European integration goals. It was emphasized that Moldova and France intend to expand cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on the development of energy infrastructure, transition to renewable sources and strengthening energy security.
France will grant Moldova a 30-million-euro loan for the energy renovation of buildings within the INSPIREE project worth 73 million euros. The INSPIREE project is aimed at energy efficient renovation of public buildings in the health and higher education sectors – district hospitals and student dormitories. In particular, energy efficiency and renewable energy measures as well as structural and internal modernization measures will be undertaken in 30 buildings across the country.
The French development agency will also grant Moldova a 40-million-euro loan and a 1.2-million-euro grant to strengthen the forestry sector, as well as a 25-million-euro loan to facilitate Moldova’s transition to the green energy sector. It is also expected that the project of rehabilitating the centralized irrigation systems in Moldova will be backed by a 49-million-euro loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) and a grant of over 18 million euros from the European Union.
