Dorin Recean: “Budget PLUS” will lead to 5% economic growth

Dorin Recean, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova

This was announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at a plenary session of Parliament, stressing that the money will be divided into two components – the energy package and the economic development package.

The energy package includes important social measures and permanent assistance to the population: compensations for electricity for the first 110 kWh and for heating, compensations to local authorities for hospitals, kindergartens, schools and other social institutions, compensations for businesses in the agri-food sector, as well as the implementation of projects to improve energy efficiency. As for the economic development package, we are talking about large-scale investments throughout the country – in road construction, renovation of schools and kindergartens, waste recycling, tourism, etc.

“The economic package will focus on big infrastructure projects and job creation,” Dorin Recean said. – Additionally, 1 billion lei will be allocated for roads, yard improvement, modernization of markets and other regional infrastructure. We will allocate another 200 million lei for the modernization of school canteens and the same amount to 700 entrepreneurs who will create new jobs. Farmers will receive about 200 million lei through the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture. At least 100 million lei will be used to finance ecological projects in 130 localities in the country”.

The prime minister said that 80 million lei will be allocated to repair the access roads to the Cantemir-Falciu railroad and a section of the railroad in Valeni. The government will allocate 60 million dollars to stimulate young specialists. Those who will be employed after graduation in the fields important for the country’s development will receive a 3,000 lei salary increase in the first year. In this way, the authorities want to keep about 6,000 young specialists in the country.

“We always talk about how important it is for our young people to stay at home, but for this we have to offer them the most attractive first salary possible. This increase will be offered in the first year of employment, in seven strategic sectors with growth potential – manufacturing, electronics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, auto components, textiles and clothing, construction materials, food processing, and creative industries.”

The prime minister emphasized that the cabinet will continue reforms and assistance to citizens. “We have an important goal to ensure economic growth. Even with the war on the border and the energy crisis, economic stagnation in the region, we have ensured stability, reduced inflation, and now we need to rebuild the country’s economy.”
