The Prime Minister instructed the Public Property Agency (PPA) to consider extending the deadline for the privatization tender for the “Zarea” Hotel until October 20. The agency’s decision to that effect was published today and has taken effect.
As a reminder, the deadline for submitting bids for the tender had previously been set for August 19. The decision to extend the deadline was made after Prime Minister Vasile Tofan noted during a government working session that the privatization of such a significant asset should not take place in the middle of summer. The vacation season could limit investor participation and the number of bids. A longer deadline will increase the chances of securing a more favorable price for the property.
As Logos Press previously reported, according to the rationale for the sale decision, the hotel currently has a net margin of 1–2%, which is significantly lower than the market average for hotels in the capital, estimated at 15–25%.
At the same time, the property, located in central Chișinău, is viewed as an asset with high investment potential. Possible development directions include a hotel, an aparthotel, office space, retail space, or mixed-use formats with integrated services.
