The CGM San Antonio, a French-owned vessel, was allegedly attacked by a land-based cruise missile. The casualties were crew members from the Philippines.

This is reported by RBC with reference to CBS News.

According to sources among American officials, as of noon on May 5, the ship was near Dubai.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) said it had received information that the cargo ship had been hit by an unknown projectile.

Against the background of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, both military and merchant ships have repeatedly been hit. Thus, two days earlier, the UAE accused Tehran of a drone attack on a tanker of the oil and gas company ADNOC in the strait. On the same day, Iran claimed to have struck a U.S. ship with two missiles and prevented U.S. and Israeli vessels from entering the waters of the sea lane.

The day before, Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted a source as saying that five civilians were killed in the US attack on two boats in the Strait of Hormuz.
