ANSA Agency Standardizes Seed Production and Inspection

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) held a series of seminars (in Keușen and Bălți) for producers of seeds and planting material, as well as for inspectors from its regional offices. The goal was to standardize the application of the regulatory framework in this area of agricultural production and to familiarize participants with the procedure for issuing phytosanitary certificates.

The seminars addressed issues related to the registration and monitoring of seed production farms and seed traders; documentation for planting material; its inspection and certification; risk management; and the resolution of legal violations. A separate key topic of the training was the requirements for seed inspection activities.

ANSA experts emphasized the importance of uniformly applying national legislation and European standards in the production and sale of seed material to ensure its traceability, quality, and safety.

The training also addressed the issue of monitoring and combating ragweed—an invasive plant that has a significant impact on public health, agriculture, and the environment.
