According to the National Communications Regulatory Agency (ARCOM), statistics provided by postal service providers show that in 2025, more than 13.1 million postal items were received from abroad, which is 20.7% more than in the previous year. Most of these were parcels and small packages, the volume of which increased by 23.5%, to nearly 12 million items.
At the same time, the number of international mail items sent from Moldova increased by 55.9%, reaching 761,200 items. This growth was driven, in particular, by a 119.9% increase in the number of parcels and small packages sent abroad, reaching 310,300.
In total, postal service providers processed approximately 42.9 million mail items over the course of the year. Of this total, 28.9 million were domestic mail items.
In the domestic postal services segment, the trend toward a decline in mail volume continued, with the volume decreasing by 14.5% to 23.5 million items. This trend reflects the increasingly frequent use of electronic means of communication. At the same time, the development of parcel and small package delivery services continued, with their volume increasing by 22.1% compared to 2024, reaching more than 2.8 million items.
Data presented by ARCOM also highlights the development of the postal infrastructure. The number of post offices and agencies increased by 17.9%, reaching 1,474, while providers’ investments totaled 44.3 million lei, a 32.2% increase from the previous year.
Total revenue from postal services amounted to 940.6 million lei, a 47.4% increase compared to 2024. This growth is primarily driven by the expansion of parcel and package delivery services, particularly in the international shipments segment.
ARCOM states that these changes confirm the consolidation of the parcel and package delivery segment at both the national and international levels, a trend supported by the growth of e-commerce and increasing demand for modern delivery services.
