
The document is issued during a roadside check, upon crossing the border, or in response to a request for mutual assistance from the competent authorities of an EU member state.
Provisions have been added to the Code of Administrative Offenses regarding the establishment of facts related to traffic violations committed involving vehicles registered in EU member states. These provisions have been published and will take effect on the date of Moldova’s accession to the EU.
A “notification” refers to a document issued by the competent authorities—a letter or request addressed to the owner or user of the vehicle. It must contain information on the reasons for issuance, the date and place of the offense, its legal classification, the penalty, the conditions for appeal and defense, as well as the obligation to provide the driver’s personal information and the consequences of failure to do so.
In addition, it will include information about the financial institution and the methods for paying the fine.
To identify the driver involved in the offense, information and mutual assistance will be requested from the authorities of EU member states or states participating in the European Information System on Vehicles and Driving Licenses (EUCARIS).
