Raids are being conducted at courier services in Romania—the damage is estimated at 50 million RON

On June 16, prosecutors from Romania’s National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) conducted large-scale raids on home delivery courier services.

According to MEDIAFAX, several companies and their representatives are under investigation by the DNA on suspicion of tax evasion in the courier and delivery services sector via online platforms. The alleged loss exceeds 50 million Romanian lei.

The publication notes that the prosecutor’s office of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate’s Timișoara Territorial Service is investigating a case involving suspected tax evasion committed between 2023 and the present by several commercial companies and their representatives.

On Tuesday, the prosecutor’s office conducted 48 searches in the counties of Timiș, Constanța, Bacău, Iași, Argeș, Caraș-Severin, Hunedoara, and Bucharest. The searches are taking place at private residences as well as at the offices or workplaces of commercial companies.
