New mayors have been elected in three localities in the country

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) presented the results of the second round of local elections in the three localities that elected mayors on Sunday, May 31, 2026. They will govern for the remaining one and a half years until the next local elections.

Thus, the new mayor of Taraclia became Catherine Iacobchak, the candidate of the Party of Socialists. According to the preliminary data of the CEC, she gained 51.23% of votes (1691), while her opponent – independent candidate Alexander Borimechkov – 48.77% of votes (1610).

In Orhei municipality, independent candidate Ramiz Ansarov was elected mayor. He received 57.88% (4681) of the votes. His opponent, the representative of the League of Cities and Communes (LOC) party, Sergei Aga, received 42.12% (3,407) of the votes.

And the administration of Rusestii Noi village in Ialoveni district will be led by Diana Nastas, candidate of the “Democracy at Home” party. She got 61.18% (1,029) of the votes, while her opponent – the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Valentina Merla – got 38.82% (653) of the votes.

According to the CEC report, the turnout in these localities was lower than in the first round. In Rusestii Noi village it amounted to 36.76%. In Orhei – 31.87%, and in Taraclia – 28.4%.
