Russia temporarily restricts imports of Armenian tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and herbs

Rosselkhoznadzor imposes temporary restrictions on the import of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green crops and strawberries originating and shipped from Armenia from May 30, 2026 "until the development of an appropriate algorithm to ensure the safety of shipped products".

According to a report agenciesThe decision was made “in connection with the increasing cases of violations in the supply of Armenian fruit and vegetable products to Russia and in order to ensure phytosanitary well-being.

“The current situation poses a threat to the phytosanitary condition of the country’s territory. In addition, the competent authority of Armenia did not take appropriate measures on previously identified violations,” Rosselkhoznadzor notes

As reported by Armenpressthe agency conducted inspections at Armenian enterprises from May 21 to May 27, 2026.

“A large volume of fruit and vegetable products is supplied by numerous Armenian companies engaged in foreign economic activities, the form of ownership of which, according to the Russian side, is unknown and which evade phytosanitary quarantine,” the agency writes.
